DC Councilmember Jack Evans' current Evans2012 campaign advisor Tom Lind[en]feld is applying to bring a Medical Marijuana Dispensary to 1539 7th St NW in Shaw -- a neighborhood which is now a part of Ward 6 DC Councilmember Tommy Wells' portfolio.

The Compassion Centers of America LLC (application pdf attached courtesy of EastShawDC) represents three partners: Tom Lind[en]feld of Washington DC, Chris Gard of Alameda California, and Justin Jarin of Alameda California, has completed an application to create a medical marijuana dispensary to be located in Mr Lind[en]feld's property at 1539 7th Street NW, Washington DC, 20001.

ANC2C02 Commissioner Kevin Chapple's community meeting to discuss the general regulations concerning medican marijuana dispensaries set for this evening, was cancelled. But I certainly hope that Commissioner Kevin Chapple intends to invite Mr Lind[en]feld and his partners and Councilmember Evans to meeting rescheduled for 7pm-9pm, Friday, February 17, 2012. I hope Commissioner Chapple will also disclose whether or not he has already had private meetings with Mr Lind[en]feld, his partners, or Councilmember Evans about this proposal which has caused quite an uproar of differing opinions on the subject on the ShawListserv. Commissioner Chapple has not responded to several requests to reveal the owner of the proposed site or the applicant(s) for the facility in his single member district, but it is difficult to imagine that since this application, submitted to the District's Department of Health on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 has not been presented to Chapple or then-Shaw/Ward2 DC Councilmember Jack Evans. Evans has also failed to respond to requests for information about the proposal presented by his campaign advisor.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Kennedy Recreation Center will be closing at 7:30 PM this evening instead of the normal 9:00 PM. As a result, the ANC 2C02 SMD meeting on medical marijuana dispensaries has been rescheduled to Friday, February 17, 2012, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
