Sunday: Historical Society Picnic & American Classic Pageant

The Historical Society of Washington Summer Picnic
12 noon- 5pm Sunday, June 13

The Historical Society of Washington, DC will hold its first annual summer picnic, complete with vintage and antique cars, oldies music, dancing, games and theme outfits from the 60s and 70s.

Old Cars Unlimited DC will showcase their cars on the grounds of the Historical Society on Mount Vernon Square, and car owners will be on hand to share their secrets of preserving and restoring vintage, antique, and classic cars. Bring your camera and pose with your favorite cars.

Formed in 1990 as the only African-American antique car club in DC, Old Cars Unlimited is dedicated to the preservation of antique and classic autos. Its members include men and women from Washington, DC and surrounding areas who own original cars from the 1920s through 1970s. OCUDC has been featured in documentaries; had vehicles appear in popular movies like "Forrest Gump," "Liberty Heights," and "Thirteen Days"; and have escorted celebrities like Eddie Murphy, Martha Reeves, and Redd Fox. Giving back to the community, they have provided car service to proms for students in the DC area who achieve a 4.0 grade point average.

Get in the spirit, wear a theme outfit, gather your friends and family and your favorite goodies for your picnic basket, and head over to the Historical Society of Washington, DC at Mt. Vernon Square, where the homemade lemonade will be waiting to quench your thirst.
