Cyclists of all ages and sizes kept WABA's DC Bike Ambassador, Daniel, and 5th Street Ace Hardware's bike guru, Ally, very busy on Saturday on Ready Your Wheels Day. MPD's First District officers were on hand and distributed about 50 helmets. The CCCA and 5th St Hardware gave out about 150 bike light sets and handed out other freebies like water bottles, bike pins from the fellas at The Revolution Cycles City Hub in Crystal City and raffle items from the pros over at The Bicycle Pro Shop in Georgetown. And one lucky raffle winner was set up with a green ipod shuffle to help celebrate greener modes of transportation for Bike to Work Week.

If you have not done so already, register now for Bike to Work Day this Friday, May 21. Be sure to choose the pit stop you intend on attending. Each "pit stop" will offer food and beverage, entertainment, dynamic speakers and chances to win bicycles and other prizes. Please be sure to register with your pit stop location to be eligible for prizes. Free t-shirts will be available for the first 8,500 registrants who are in attendance at the pit stop they registered for. Mayor Fenty, DDOT Director Gabe Klein and other key decision makers and dignitaries will be on hand do the ribbon cutting for the Pennsylvania Avenue and Downtown Bike lanes at the end of the Freedom Plaza pit stop event which will run from 8-9am at 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
