  • Ketan Gada, Development Manager, Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and the current team of developers is expected to be on hand at our September meeting to discuss and seek feedback from the community on Parcel 42, 7th & R Street NW (across from the R St entrance of the Shaw Metro and Asbury Dwellings). The District's Office of Economic Development has found a developer interested in developing at new apartment building with mixed retail space with 54 rental units priced at around 50% of the District's AMI (average median income = approx. $53k). Some residents and leaders are not content with the proposal and would prefer that the District pass on this offer, while many residents in the Shaw area are eagerly awaiting new development in the area and are disappointed with failed projects that have plagued Shaw while neighborhoods around Shaw thrive with new development.
